About the Service
Juche TV is an independent media-preservation service that brings North Korean (DPRK) state broadcasting and print media to a global audience. It streams Korean Central Television (KCTV), Korean Central Broadcasting Station (KCBS) and Voice of Korea (VOK) live, hosts a growing on-demand archive of recorded broadcasts, and publishes DPRK magazines, newspapers and periodicals as downloadable PDFs.
1Our mission
Juche TV's own goal is simple: to preserve North Korean media. Broadcasts are ephemeral — once a programme airs, it is gone. We exist so that researchers, journalists, students, translators and the simply curious can watch, listen to and read DPRK media as it was actually presented: unedited, unfiltered and archived for the long term.
2What the service provides
- Live television — Korean Central Television, streamed from the source.
- Live radio — Korean Central Broadcasting Station (domestic state radio) and Voice of Korea (the DPRK's international service).
- Publications — North Korean magazines, newspapers and periodicals, provided as published and downloadable in PDF form.
- Video on demand — a growing archive of recorded DPRK broadcasts, watchable anytime.
- Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) — now/next listings and full daily schedules for KCTV, available on the site and through a public API.
3Who runs Juche TV
4The KCTV EPG — a joint operation
The programme guide for Korean Central Television is compiled through joint operations between KoryoFront and Juche TV: KoryoFront contributes reception-side scheduling data, and Juche TV curates, translates and publishes it. Listings are given in Pyongyang time (UTC+9).
The EPG is also available programmatically through Juche TV's public API. A request takes a channel code and a date:
- ch — the channel code (currently KCTV).
- date — the schedule date in YYYY-MM-DD format, interpreted in Pyongyang time.
The API returns the day's programme list with start/end times and titles. If you use EPG data in your own project, please credit "EPG: KoryoFront × Juche TV".
5Publications, preserved as published
Juche TV also provides North Korean publications as they were published — layout, imagery and text intact. These documents are historical records of the DPRK's official voice and are offered for reading, research and preservation. Copyright in the underlying works remains with their original publishers.
6Independence & content ownership
Juche TV and KoryoFront are not affiliated with Korean Central Television, KCBS, Voice of Korea, or any DPRK state organ. All broadcast content remains the property of its respective broadcasters and publishers. Our role is carriage, curation and preservation — nothing more.
